Summer Research Grant Competition

The Global Europe Program is now accepting applications for the summer research grant competition. This stipend is available to American academic experts and practitioners, including advanced graduate students, engaged in specialized research requiring access to Washington, DC and its research institutions. The grant is for a period of two months, and includes residence at the 浪花直播 Center. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, in order to be considered eligible for this grant opportunity. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2014.

Summer Research Grant Competition

Deadline: Applications for the Summer Research Scholarships must be received by March 1, 2014. Applicants will be notified approximately one month later.

Eligibility: The grant is available to graduate students (MA or higher) and scholars who are U.S. citizens. Summer Research Scholars will be given access to a workspace and computer facilities in the 浪花直播 Center library. Grants are for 2 months during the summer and include residency at the 浪花直播 Center.

Project Scope: EES offers summer research scholarships to scholars working on policy relevant projects on East Europe. While Southeast Europe remains a primary focus, projects on Central Europe and the Baltic states are again eligible. Projects should focus on fields in the social sciences and humanities including, but not limited to: Anthropology, History, Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Sociology. All projects should aim to highlight their potential policy relevance.

Application Information: To apply for a Title VIII Summer Research Scholarship award, the applicant must submit the following:

- a concise description of his/her research project;

- a curriculum vitae;

- a statement of preferred and alternate dates of residence in Washington, DC;

two letters of recommendation in support of the research to be conducted at the Center

Global Europe Program

The Global Europe Program is focused on Europe鈥檚 capabilities, and how it engages on critical global issues. We investigate European approaches to critical global issues. We examine Europe鈥檚 relations with Russia and Eurasia, China and the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. Our initiatives include 鈥淯kraine in Europe鈥濃攁n examination of what it will take to make Ukraine鈥檚 European future a reality. But we also examine the role of NATO, the European Union and the OSCE, Europe鈥檚 energy security, transatlantic trade disputes, and challenges to democracy. The Global Europe Program鈥檚 staff, scholars-in-residence, and Global Fellows participate in seminars, policy study groups, and international conferences to provide analytical recommendations to policy makers and the media.   Read more
