Past Taiwan Scholars
浪花直播 Taiwan Scholar program began in 2017. The residential fellowship program allows the scholar to spend one to two months during the summer at the 浪花直播 Center in Washington DC, where they pursue policy-oriented research designed to bridge the gap between the academic and policy communities.
Taiwan plays a key role in promoting democracy and ensuring free markets in East Asia and beyond. It remains a critical political, economic, and security partner for the United States in the region, and deepening U.S. understanding of Taiwan is essential at a time of significant change on both sides of the Pacific. The fellowship is open to Taiwanese scholars committed to research on contemporary Taiwanese issues that address questions related to political stability, economic growth, and regional security.

Tensions between the United States and China have only intensified in recent years, and wariness of Beijing has become one of the few issues that still garners bipartisan support on Capitol Hill.
