Dr. Alexandroff received his Ph.D. in Government from in 1979 and his LL.B. from in 1984. He taught political economy and international relations at , and .  He practised civil litigation and government/business relations at in Toronto.

After leaving full-time law practise in 1992, he established a number of programs at the Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto. Currently Dr. Alexandroff is the Research Director of the Program on Conflict Management and Negotiation () at the , . In this role, he established a joint program between PCMN and the University of Toronto's --the Certificate Program in Dispute Resolution. Within this program he has taught courses dealing with the following subjects: alternate dispute resolution, strategic negotiation, cross-cultural negotiation, international relations, and the management of public disputes conflict.

As Research Director of PCMN, Dr. Alexandroff has focused a great deal of attention on the accession of China to the World Trade Organization.  As a result of the China/WTO Accession Project, chaired by Dr. Sylvia Ostry, a book entitled "China and Long March to Global Trade: The Accession of China to the World Trade Organization" is being readied that includes some of the research from this Project.  He has published a number of other articles on China accession as well as on the WTO.

In collaboration with university in Beijing, the at the in Washington D.C., and the at the Faculty of Law of the Australian National University, the CIS and PCMN, led by Dr. Alexandroff at the Munk Centre, are preparing a training program in China.

In private practise, he is a Director of , a full-service dispute resolution consultancy for private and public organizations.  In addition he is the Office Director in Toronto for , an economic and finance consulting firm.  There he specializes on trade and public policy matters.

In 2000, Dr. Alexandroff was appointed Fellow-in-Residence in International Policy at the . As Fellow-in-Residence, he is primarily responsible for international trade studies at the Institute.
