Mar铆a Teresa holds a PhD in Political Science from Sciences Po, Paris (2019).
Since 2020, she is Researcher Professor at the School of Social Science and Government of the Tecnol贸gico de Monterrey University. Her research focuses on protection mechanisms of businessmen in Mexico; government and non-government policing practices; violence configurations and electoral violence in the country.
She currently coordinates the research seminar (Re)thinking women in violence, a space to question prevailing androcentric narratives on violence and to shed light on women as agents in violent configurations.
She also collaborates as Associate-Researcher at the Program of Public Security and Violence Reduction in M茅xico Eval煤a and as Fellow at Noria Program for Mexico & Central America.
Mar铆a Teresa has previously worked for the Mexican Federal Government, as Deputy Director of Research at the National Security Council (2010-2011) and as advisor in public security for the Ministry of Interior (2011-2012).
She has also worked as Senior researcher at the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice (2009-2010), and Senior analyst at the department of public opinion research of the newspaper Reforma (2004-2008).
