Documenting Evidence of Femicide: Film Discussion of the "Can铆bal, indignaci贸n total" Docuseries

Overview

On July 14, the Mexico Institute launched the "Engendering Safety: Addressing Femicide in Mexico" initiative, which consists of a series of multidisciplinary events to shed light on the root causes of femicide and to explore the policy options available for mitigating the issue. This launch event began with an exclusive preview of Javier Tejado and Mexican Supreme Court Chief Justice Arturo Zald铆var鈥檚 docuseries, Can铆bal, indignaci贸n total, available only to the in-person audience. After the screening, the event pivoted to a hybrid format, and Chief Justice Zald铆var delivered remarks and an expert panel discussed the factors that contribute to rising femicide rates in Mexico as well as the measures available to government officials and civil society leaders to address and reduce gender-based violence. In-person audience members were invited to a cocktail reception following the panel discussion.
