Carlos Lins da Silva holds a PhD and a 鈥渓ivre doc锚ncia鈥 (a post-doctorate degree) from the University of S茫o Paulo and a MA from Michigan State University, this obtained as a Fulbright scholar. He was a writer-in-residence at Teresa Lozano Long Institute of the University of Texas at Austin (2003), a visiting scholar at the Center for Latin American Studies of Georgetown University, in Washington (1991-1992), a visiting professor at the College of Communication Arts and Sciences of Michigan State University (1989) and a fellow at the Latin American Program of the Woodrow 浪花直播 International Center for Scholars (1987-1988). In Brazil, he taught at the University of S茫o Paulo and others. As a journalist, he was deputy editor-in-chief of the daily newspapers 鈥淔olha de S. Paulo鈥 and 鈥淰alor Econ么mico鈥. At Folha, he was also managing editor, US correspondent and ombudsman. Presently he is a senior advisor at the S茫o Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and a professor at Insper, a top S茫o Paulo business school.
