President Sagasti holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the National University of Engineering in Lima, Peru. He obtained his Master鈥檚 degree (MSc) in Industrial Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, and his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Operational Research and Social Systems Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania. In Peru, he has been the Founder and Executive Director at GRADE; advisor to the Ministers of Industry, Foreign Affairs, and Education; and advisor to the President of the Council of Ministers and the National Planning Institute.
He has served as a professor at the Pacifico Business School from the Universidad del Pac铆fico and the Pontificia Universidad Cat贸lica del Per煤 (PUCP). He has been a member of the National Council of Science and Technology; principal investigator emeritus of the Foro Nacional Internacional; and strategy consultant to international organizations, government agencies, and private entities.
He has been the President of the Board of Directors of the Science and Technology Program (FINCyT/Inn贸vatePer煤); a member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC), a member of the International Advisory Council of the Lemelson Foundation; and a member of the Board of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
Additionally, Fransisco Sagasti was the Director of the Agenda Per煤 Program at Foro Nacional Internacional; Chief of the Strategic Planning Division at the World Bank; and President of the United Nations Advisory Committee on Science and Technology for Development. He was a visiting professor at the IE Business School in Madrid, Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and Universidad para la Paz in Costa Rica.
He has published more than 25 books and he has authored more than 150 academic papers.
Ingeniero Industrial graduado en la Universidad Nacional de Ingenier铆a (Lima, Per煤), obtuvo su Maestr铆a (MSC) en Ingenier铆a Industrial en la Pennsylvania State University, y su doctorado (PhD) en Investigaci贸n Operacional y Ciencias de Sistemas Sociales en la Universidad de Pennsylvania. En el Per煤, ha sido fundador y Director Ejecutivo en GRADE; asesor de los ministros de Industria, Relaciones Exteriores y Educaci贸n, de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros; y del Instituto Nacional de Planificaci贸n.
